Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty

On November 1, commencing at 11:15 a.m. (local time) for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriate Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The overview is as follows;

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed that it is an honor to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum as a special envoy of the Prime Minister and that she is very much looking forward to the ceremony. She then handed over a letter from Prime Minister TAKAICHI to President El-Sisi, expressing her determination to further strengthen bilateral relations.
  2. In response, Foreign Minister Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Japan's support in the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum. He also appreciated Japan's contribution to economic cooperation with Egypt in various fields such as education, infrastructure, and culture.
  3. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Abdelatty expressed expectations for the expansion of Japanese companies into Egypt and stated that, based on the strategic partnership, he would like to build stronger business relations that benefit the both countries.
  4. State Minister KUNIMITSU highly appreciated Egypt's leading role in achieving a ceasefire and stabilization in Gaza and stated that Japan would also play an active role in the steady implementation of the "Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict," the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, and the realization of a "two-state solution" in close cooperation with Egypt.
