Japan-Croatia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On October 22, commencing at 2:30 p.m. for approximately 35 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a Foreign ministers’ meeting with H.E. Mr. Gordan GRLIĆ RADMAN, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, who is visiting Japan to attend the Ukraine Mine Action Conference. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI welcomed Minister Grlić Radman’s visit to Japan following his visit in July this year and expressed his respect for Croatia’s proactive stance in supporting Ukraine through hosting the first Ukraine Mine Action Conference. Minister MOTEGI also expressed his intention to work closely with Croatia, which shares values and principles, not only in bilateral relations but also in the international arena toward maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
- In response, Minister Grlić Radman conveyed his congratulations on the success of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and appreciated Japan’s leadership in the Ukraine Mine Action Conference. The Minister expressed his hope to further develop bilateral relations with Japan which shares fundamental values, in a wide range of fields including the economic sector.
- In addition, the two ministers exchanged views on various issues of the international community, including the situation in Ukraine and the situation in East Asia, such as their policies toward North Korea including on the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, and concurred that the two countries will continue to work closely together.
