State Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII’s attendance at the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030

On September 22nd, the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 (JSV 2030) was held in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting was attended by Mr. MUTO Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and others from the Japanese side, and H.E. Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment, H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al-Saud, Chairman of Saudi eSports Federation, Ms. Sara Al Sayed, Deputy Minister of Investment, H.E. Mr. GHAZI Binzagr, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Japan and others from the Saudi side.

  1. In the meeting, both sides confirmed the progress of cooperation between Japan and Saudi Arabia since the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 held in December 2023 as well as Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 Ministerial Roundtable held in January this year, and exchanged views on the direction of future cooperation.
  2. State Minister FUJII welcomed the Saudi delegation’s visit to Japan, expressing his pleasure to hold the 8th meeting of JSV 2030 in Tokyo. He also commended various cooperation in the wide range of areas between Japan and Saudi Arabia in this year which marks 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Furthermore, State Minister FUJII introduced Japan’s efforts in the fields of people-to-people exchange, culture, sports, education, and research, undertaken within the framework of the "Japan-Saudi Vision 2030".

Moreover, State Minister FUJII expressed Japan’s hope that the Saudi National Day, to be celebrated on September 23rd at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will give further momentum to strengthen bilateral relations, and for a smooth handover of the baton from Osaka to Riyadh, the host city of EXPO 2030.
