Emergency Grant and other humanitarian assistance in response to the earthquake disaster in eastern Afghanistan

- On September 19, the Government of Japan decided to extend an Emergency Grant of USD 1 million to the people of Afghanistan through international organizations in such areas as food, health and medical care, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), in response to the devastating damages caused by the earthquakes that struck eastern Afghanistan.
- In addition, the Government of Japan has been informed of the decision of the Japan Platform (JPF) to provide humanitarian assistance of approximately USD 1.33 million, financed by the grant from the Government of Japan.
- Taking into consideration the needs on the ground, the Government of Japan will continue to provide humanitarian assistance in a manner that immediately benefits the people of Afghanistan.
