The 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency

The 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be held from September 15 to 19 in Vienna, Austria.
- Mr. KIUCHI Minoru, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy, and Mr. KAIFU Atsushi, Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna, will attend the General Conference as representatives of the Government of Japan.
- During the General Conference, Minister KIUCHI will make a statement on Japan's efforts to address nuclear non-proliferation challenges, promote peaceful uses of nuclear energy and support IAEA’s initiatives.
- Taking this opportunity, the representatives of the Government of Japan will hold meetings with governments of relevant countries and organizations and exchange opinions on challenges and enhancement of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

The IAEA is an international organization (180 Member States – as of September 2025) which was established in 1957 for the purpose of promoting peaceful uses of nuclear energy and application of safeguards to prevent the diversion of nuclear energy for military use.
