The General Border Committee by the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand

- Japan welcomes that Cambodia and Thailand held the General Border Committee on September 10 with progress in discussions regarding the establishment of the ASEAN Observer Team, demining and resumption of cross-border logistics, which represents an important outcome to advance the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
- The Government of Japan expresses its respect for the diplomatic efforts of all parties involved in convening this Committee, including Malaysia, which has dedicated itself to progress on the ceasefire agreement as the ASEAN Chair.
- The Government of Japan expects that both countries will continue to observe the ceasefire agreement and the tension between the Cambodia and Thailand will be eased peacefully through dialogue, considering a sound cooperative relationship between the two countries is extremely important for peace and stability in the region. In this regard, Japan will continue to make efforts to promote steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement and de-escalation of the situation, in coordination with relevant countries.
