Courtesy Call on State Minister FUJII Hisayuki for Foreign Affairs of Japan by Mr. Kévin MAGRON, Chief of Staff of the OECD Secretary-General

On August 28, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by Mr. Kévin MAGRON, Chief of Staff of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows :
- At the outset, State Minister FUJII welcomed Mr. MAGRON’s visit to Japan and the reappointment of Mr. Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). State Minister FUJII had held talks with Mr. Cormann during this year's OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM). He also stated that Japan's unwavering commitment to the OECD.
- Mr. MAGRON expressed gratitude for Japan's contributions to the OECD and stated that he would like to continue to work closely with Japan in various fields, including outreach to Southeast Asian countries.
- State Minister FUJII mentioned that during this year's MCM, Japan had announced its intention to make AI a central pillar of its outreach support to Southeast Asian countries through the OECD. He also mentioned that on August 6 this year, the co-creation workshop on the “AI Policy Toolkit” being developed by the OECD was held at Thailand, with active participation from Southeast Asian countries, where useful insights were shared. He also stated that Japan will continue to take the lead in the OECD's outreach efforts to Southeast Asian countries.
- The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening the OECD Tokyo Office.
