On August 4, Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan held a working dinner with Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), who is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Both sides affirmed the importance of the early entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) as a realistic and practical measure on nuclear disarmament.
  2. They also concurred to continue working closely together to ensure the early entry into force of the CTBT and to maintain and strengthen the International Monitoring System (IMS), which has an important function in ensuring the early entry into force of the CTBT and in deterring nuclear testing.
