Presentation of Japan's Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of 2030 Agenda at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) by State Minister MIYAJI

On July 22, State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI attended the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) ministerial segment held in New York, and presented Japan's third Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of 2030 Agenda.

  1. State Minister MIYAJI announced the progress of Japan's SDGs over the past four years, and stated that Japan's efforts to achieve SDGs are strongly supported by a diverse range of stakeholders, including academia, youth, civil society, and private sectors.
  2. Furthermore, State Minister MIYAJI presented Ms. ODA Yuriko (Founder and Executive Director of the NGO “WheeLog”), who has enabled everyone to contribute to creating a society where wheelchair users are not left behind. He stated that the SDGs aim to "Leave No One Behind" and that "Everyone will make it happen everywhere" is crucial for achieving this goal, conveying this message from Japan to the international community.
  3. On that basis, State Minister Miyaji also stated that Japan remains committed to achieving the SDGs.
  4. Following State Minister Miyaji's announcement, a video showcasing Japan's initiatives was presented, followed by presentations from Ms. ODA Yuriko. Furthermore, presentations were given by Mr. CHIBA Soichiro (Chair, G7/G20 Youth Japan / Founder, Thousandleaf), and Mr. KANIE Norichika (Professor, Keio University Graduate School), members of the SDGs Promotion Roundtable.
