On June 6, 2025, commencing at 5:05 for approximately 50 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from General Randall Reed, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command, during his visit to Japan. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Fujii welcomed General Reed's visit and stated that the importance of the Japan-U.S. alliance is higher than ever in the face of the increasingly severe security environment in the region. In response, General Reed expressed his gratitude for Japan’s hosting of U.S. Forces and stated that he will continue to work closely with Japan for peace and stability in the region.
  2. Both sides shared serious concerns about the increasingly severe security environment and reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on security and defense cooperation between Japan and the U.S. to strengthen the deterrence and response capabilities of the alliance, and concurred to contribute to strengthening deterrence and response capabilities in the region.
