Japan-Nepal Foreign Minister’s Meeting

On May 22, commencing at 5:10 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a Japan-Nepal Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with H.E. Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, who was on a visit to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Iwaya welcomed Foreign Minister Deuba 's visit to Japan and expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations based on the traditional friendship between Japan and Nepal. Minister Iwaya also expressed his condolences to the victim of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22, which claimed the life of a Nepalese.
- Foreign Minister Deuba expressed her gratitude for Japan's longstanding economic cooperation with Nepal. In response, Minister Iwaya stated that Japan would continue to cooperate in solving Nepal's problems, including the countermeasures for natural disasters.
- As the year 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Nepal, the two ministers concurred to cooperate to further promote relations between the two countries.
