The 12th Japan-Iran Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues

On May 18, Japan-Iran Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation was held in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

  1. The Japanese side was represented by Dr. NAKAMURA Kimitake, Ambassador, Director-General of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, while the Iranian side was represented by Mr. Mohammad Hassani Nejad Pirkouhi, Director-General for International Peace and Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  2. At the consultation, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of important current issues in the areas of disarmament and non-proliferation, including the ongoing talks between Iran and the Unites States, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, regional issues including Middle East, and biological and chemical weapons.
  3. During the Consultation, Director-General NAKAMURA paid a courtesy call on Dr. Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
