Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ms. ERI Arfiya by H.E. Mr. Esteban MARZORATI, Secretary of Industry and Trade of the Ministry of Economy of the Argentine Republic

On May 15, commencing at 3:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Esteban MARZORATI, Secretary of Industry and Trade of the Ministry of Economy of the Argentine Republic, during his visit to Japan.
- At the outset, Vice-Minister Eri welcomed Mr. Marzorati’s visit to Japan, stating that Argentine is a strategic partner that shares values and principles such as freedom and democracy, and is an important country for Japan with over 125 years of diplomatic relations and ties with the third largest Nikkei(Japanese immigrants and descendants) community in South America.
- Vice-Minister Eri expressed her hope for early progress in the internal procedures for the entry into force of the Tax Convention and the Investment Agreement, with a view to developing a business environment to promote smoother activities and investment by Japanese companies. In response, Mr. Marzorati expressed his willingness to continue to work on improving the business environment to promote investment by Japanese companies.
- Both sides also exchanged views on the current global economic situation, as well as relations with MERCOSUR, which Argentine has chaired in the first half of this year, and concurred on further strengthening Japan-MERCOSUR relations.
