Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs IKUINA Akiko by H.E. Major General Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Japan

On April 30, from 3:30 p.m. JST for approximately 30 minutes, Ms. IKUINA Akiko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Major General Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Japan. The overview is as follows.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister IKUINA touched on the strong bilateral relationship between Japan and Bhutan that has been nurtured through people-to-people exchanges, including those between the Imperial and Royal Families, and economic cooperation such as agricultural development. Parliamentary Vice-Minister IKUINA also stated that 2026 will mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bhutan, and that it would be a good opportunity to look back the longstanding friendship and build new cooperative relations.
- In response, Ambassador Namgyal thanked the Government of Japan for its support to Bhutan and expressed his desire to contribute towards the further development of Japan-Bhutan relations.
