Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs MATSUMOTO’s attendance at the St Patrick’s Day Reception

On March 17, 2025, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the St Patrick’s Day Reception, which was held in Tokyo, Japan, and delivered his remarks on behalf of the Japanese government. The reception was attended by Ms. Hildegarde Naughton, TD, Minister of State with responsibility for Disability. The overview is as follows:
- In his speech, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto noted that Japan and Ireland are partners which share fundamental values, and with Prime Minister Martin’s visit to Japan and the issuing of the joint statement by both leaders, the relations between the two countries have strongly progressed across various levels and fields including economic relations.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto also stated that the year 2025 is an important year for Japan-Ireland relations, referring to the completion of the Ireland Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai and the opening of the “Ireland House” this year, and stated his willingness to work towards further deepening and developing Japan-Ireland relations.
