Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. FUJII Hisayuki by H.E. Mr. Thomás Antonio Guardia Williamson, Advisor in the Office of the Vice Chancellor of the Republic of Panama

- State Minister Fujii welcomed H.E. Ambassador Guardia’s visit to Japan and expressed his expectation for further cooperation with the Republic of Panama, as Panama is serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for two years from 2025.
- State Minister Fujii also expressed his desire to cooperate to further strengthen the good bilateral relationship, including cooperation to ensure a safe and stable environment for the use of the Panama Canal.
- In response, H.E. Ambassador Guardia stated that Panama shares values with Japan and that the two countries are in agreement on various issues in the international arena and would like to further deepen cooperation in the international arena including the UN Security Council.
- They also exchanged views on issues such as regional situation including North Korea, cooperation in the UN Security Council, maintaining and strengthening the international order based on the rule of law, and the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”. They concurred to cooperate closely in the international arena.
