2024 Fukushima Study Tour for Tokyo Diplomatic Missions

On March 5, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, in cooperation with the Fukushima Prefectural Government will conduct a study tour for Tokyo-based diplomatic missions to Naraha Machi in Futaba County and Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, to visit facilities related to renewable energy and decarbonization.

  1. The purpose of this study tour is to introduce to the Tokyo-based diplomatic corps an understanding of the advanced efforts being made by Fukushima Prefecture toward a decarbonized society as one of the pillars of reconstruction, and to disseminate this understanding to the world.
  2. In relation to lithium-ion batteries necessary for electric vehicles (EV), the tour will visit Toyotsu Lithium Corporation, Sumiko Energy Materials Corporation, and Asaka Riken Co. The tour will also visit J-Village*, a complex that is a symbol of Fukushima's recovery.
