Reception for WPS Focal Points Network 7th Capital-Level Meeting, Tokyo, Japan hosted by Foreign Minister IWAYA

On February 4, at the Iikura Guest House, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, hosted a reception on the occasion of WPS Focal Points Network 7th Capital-Level Meeting, Tokyo, Japan. Approximately 200 people including the participants of the meeting attended the reception.

  1. In his opening remarks, Minister Iwaya stated that he is delighted that Japan takes a role of the Co-Chairs of the WPS Focal Points Network together with Norway in 2025, the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the landmark UN Security Council Resolution 1325. He also expressed his expectation that ongoing vibrant discussion at the Capital-Level Meeting in Tokyo will provide an opportunity for further actions by diverse stakeholders. He also expressed his determination to contribute for the promotion of WPS agenda with the collective effort of all of Japan .
  2. Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs also joined the reception. The participants exchanged views on WPS in a friendly atmosphere, while enjoying musical performance by KIKi, an authentic Tsugaru shamisen duo.

The WPS Focal Points Network is the network amongst the UN Member States to promote the WPS commitments through sharing lessons learned and good practices among Member States and regional organizations. Japan and Norway are the Co-Chair of the Network in 2025. The WPS-FPN Seventh Capital-Level Meeting is being held in Tokyo from February 4th- February 6th.
