Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto’s attendance at Japan Saudi Vision 2030 Ministerial Roundtable

On January 12th, Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 Ministerial Roundtable was held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was attended by Mr. MUTO Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and others from the Japanese side, and H.E. Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment, H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al-Saud, Chairman of Saudi eSports Federation and others from the Saudi side.

  1. In the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress in cooperation between Japan and Saudi Arabia since the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Japan Saudi Vision 2030 held in December 2023 and exchanged views on the future direction of cooperation
  2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Japanese and Saudi sides towards materializing projects in a wide range of cooperation areas as concurred between the leaders of both countries. Furthermore, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto introduced efforts that Japan is promoting with regard to the framework of the "Japan-Saudi Vision 2030" in the fields of people-to-people exchange, culture, sports, education and research. In addition, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto stated that he seeks to make efforts to further strengthen Japan-Saudi Arabia relations towards the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
  3. The Japanese side expressed Japan’s hope for the success of the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai to be held in Japan this year and for the smooth handover of the baton from Osaka to Riyadh, the host city of EXPO 2030.
