Entry into Force of the GIGO Establishment Convention

On December 9, Italy deposited the last instrument of ratification of the Convention on the Establishment of the “Global Combat Air Programme – GCAP International Government Organisation” with the depositary, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As a result, this Convention entered into force on December 10.
- This Convention requires ratification or acceptance by all the Parties and will enter into force on the day following the deposit of the last instrument of ratification or acceptance of the Parties. Given Japan finished the deposit on July 3 and the UK finished the deposit on October 4, this Convention entered into force today, December 10, following the deposit by Italy on December 9.
- It is expected that a system for controlling and managing the GCAP in an integrated manner will be built with the entry into force of this Convention and the establishment of the GIGO, whereby contributing to the facilitation of the joint development.

ARTICLE 62 (4) This Convention shall be subject to ratification or acceptance by all the Parties. This Convention shall enter into force on the day following the deposit of the last instrument of ratification or acceptance of the Parties.
