Japan-Turkmenistan Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Meeting

On November 8, commencing at 5:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Mr. Rashid MEREDOV, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Iwaya mentioned that Japan and Turkmenistan are mutually beneficial partner based on friendship and mutual trust, and expressed his willingness to closely work with Minister Meredov to further deepen the relations between the two countries.
- Minister Iwaya also stated that Turkmenistan with its rich natural resources is an important partner to develop energy projects while considering decarbonization, and pointed out that Japan is ready to strengthen bilateral economic relations including areas in which Japan’s technology can be utilized. In response, Minister Meredov expressed his deep appreciation for Japan's support and said that he would like to strengthen cooperation in all areas, including politics and economic relations.
