Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Iwaya by Senator Jerry Moran and Senator John Hoeven, United States Senate

On October 24th, commencing at 13:10 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Senator Jerry Moran and Senator John Hoeven, United States Senate. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, Minister Iwaya welcomed Senator Moran and Senator Hoeven on their visit to Japan. Minister Iwaya stated that the Japan-U.S. Alliance, which had become stronger than ever, is based on multi-layered people to people exchanges including legislative exchanges between the two countries. He also stated that he would like to further uphold and bolster the Japan-U.S. Alliance, which is the foundation of peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and the international community.
- Both sides exchanged their views on regional issues in the Asia Pacific region and common challenges that both countries share including economic and security issues. Minister Iwaya stated that the importance of the Japan-U.S. relationship as global partners remains unwavering and conveyed his expectations for continued support from the U.S. Congress for the further development of Japan-U.S. relations, and for the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific".
