Meeting between Vice Minister Okano and Deputy Secretary Campbell

On October 15, commencing at 6:10 pm, for approximately 35 minutes, Mr. OKANO Masataka, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with the Honorable Kurt M. Campbell, Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Mr. Okano expressed his sympathies on the damage caused by the Hurricane in southern part of the U.S.
- The two sides exchanged their views on Japan-U.S. relations and a broad range of regional issues. Mr. Okano stated he would like to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance, which had become stronger than ever. Moreover, amid the various challenges facing the international community, they shared their view that Japan and the U.S. will continue to work closely together as global partners.
- The two sides concurred expanding the network of like-minded countries, including Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea, Japan-U.S.-Philippines, and which is extremely important to further promote a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific".
