Emergency Grant for the people affected by the typhoon disaster in Viet Nam and Myanmar
On October 8th, the Government of Japan decided to provide Emergency Grant of USD 4 million for the people severely affected by floods and landslides in Viet Nam and Myanmar caused by the Typhoon Yagi.
With this Emergency Grant, Japan will implement humanitarian assistance in such areas as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), food, temporary shelter through the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
The Mekong sub-region is a region at high risk of natural disasters, including floods. As confirmed in the “Mekong-Japan Cooperation Strategy 2024”, the Government of Japan will continue to cooperate in the efforts of water-related disaster risk reduction in the Mekong sub-region in response to climate change.
