Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Kamikawa by LTG. Jibril Mahmoud Muhammad RAJOUB, President of the Palestine Olympic Committee

On September 3, commencing at 1:10 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by LTG. Jibril Mahmoud Muhammad RAJOUB, President of the Palestine Olympic Committee (President of the Palestine Football Association, and Secretary General for Fatah Central Committee) . The summary of the courtesy call is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Kamikawa welcomed President Rajoub’s visit to Japan and stressed the importance of international exchange through sports, touching upon the participation of the Palestinian athletes, including those from Gaza, in the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Minister Kamikawa stated that she has a strong sense of urgency regarding the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in light of the current situation in the Middle East, and that she would like to work closely with the Palestinian side toward a ceasefire. Minister Kamikawa then explained humanitarian assistance to Gaza by Japan.
- President Rajoub expressed his gratitude for Japan's support for Palestine and explained the current situation in the Middle East and the importance of a two-state solution.
- In addition, Minister Kamikawa reiterated Japan's consistent position in support of a two-state solution, and stated that it is important to advance the reform of the Palestinian Authority (PA) for this purpose, and that Japan intends to actively contribute to such efforts.
