Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuji and State Minister for Foreign Affairs (International Relations) Okello of Uganda

On August 25, commencing at 8:59 a.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs held a meeting with Hon. Henry Oryem OKELLO, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Relations) of the Republic of Uganda, who is visiting Japan to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, State Minister Tsuji expressed his hope to further develop bilateral relations and cooperation in the international arena. In response, State Minister Okello expressed his appreciation for the progress in bilateral relations and his hope to further strengthen already good bilateral relations between two countries.
- State Minister Tsuji noted that Japan has been cooperating with Uganda’s development for more than 60 years in a wide range of fields and expressed his hope to continue cooperation in the areas including infrastructure and human resource development. In response, State Minister Okello expressed his gratitude for Japan's support and his expectations for further support and investment from Japan.
- They confirmed the further development of Japan-Uganda relations towards TICAD 9 next year.
- In addition, two side also exchanged views regarding cooperation in the international arena including Security Council reform.
