Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuji and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation Kabarebe of the Republic of Rwanda

On August 25, commencing at around 10:30 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs met with Gen (Rtd) James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, who is visiting Japan to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, State Minister Tsuji congratulated re-election of President Kagame, and paid tribute to Rwanda’s efforts toward national reconciliation, reconstruction and stability, for 30 years after the genocide. In response, State Minister Kabarebe expressed his appreciation for assistance by Japan and his hope to further strengthen already good bilateral relations between two countries.
- State Minister Tsuji, while referring to his visit to Rwanda in May this year, welcomed momentum of Japanese companies to develop new business in Rwanda. Two sides concurred that to work together in order to increase investment from Japan to Rwanda, by improving business environment for Japanese companies.
- They confirmed the further development of Japan-Rwanda relations towards TICAD 9 next year.
- In addition, they also exchanged views regarding cooperation in the international arena including regional situations.
