Entry into Force of Japan-Italy Film Co-production Agreement

- On July 10 (local time), the Government of Japan notified the completion of domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the “Agreement on Film Co-production between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Italian Republic.” On the same day, this notification was received by the Government of Italy. As a result, this agreement will come into effect on August 9, 2024.
- Co-production films approved under this agreement will be entitled to the full enjoyment of all the benefits which are or may be accorded to national films in each country respectively. The entry into force of this agreement is expected to enhance exchanges between film production entities of the two countries and expand film co-productions between the two countries. It is also anticipated to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries through co-production films.

Film Co-production Agreement: Generally, a film co-production agreement is concluded to ensure smooth execution of various procedures when producing films jointly with other countries. Japan has concluded a film co-production agreement with two countries so far, with Italy being the second after China.
