Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuge by Secretary General LEE Hee-sup of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat

On July 19, commencing at 10:40 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. TSUGE Yoshifumi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. LEE Hee-sup, Secretary General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) during his visit to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. State Minister Tsuge stated his view that the TCS has been contributing to further deepening the relationship among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea and stated that he will continue to support TCS’s activities conductive to strengthening the foundation of future-oriented trilateral relationships. In response, Secretary General LEE expressed his gratitude for the Government of Japan’s steady support to the TCS and his hope for continued support from the Government of Japan. He also stated that the TCS would like to further contribute to the trilateral cooperation under Japan’s Chair.
  2. State Minister Tsuge stated that he is convinced that the TCS’s initiatives in promoting people-to-people exchanges among the three counties contribute particularly to fostering trust among the peoples of the three countries. He stressed that he is encouraged by the fact that the TCS has been devoted to build the peoples’ ties, which will be an asset for future among many people of the three countries and stated that he looks forward to the TCS’s future initiatives on people-to-people exchanges.
  3. In addition, State Minister Tsuge stated that he will continue to cooperate with the TCS to promote the trilateral cooperation under Japan’s Chair. Both sides confirmed that Japan and the TCS will work together to further promote the trilateral cooperation.
