Japan welcomes that overall, the election was generally conducted as planned. On the other hand, there were reports of incidents involving violence in the process leading up to the general elections. The Government of Japan expresses its deepest condolences to the victims of these incidents. Japan also takes note of the facts that there have been various discussions on fairness and inclusivity of the elections and that some irregularities were reported.
- Japan hopes that Pakistan, as a traditional friend, will make progress in its efforts for further development as a democratic nation. Japan intends to continue to support Pakistan for its development and prosperity, and further develop the bilateral relationship.
