The 7th Japan-EU Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation

On December 7, the 7th Japan- the European Union (EU) Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation took place in Brussels under the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the European Union on Cooperation in Science and Technology.

  1. The Joint Committee meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Ms. KAJI Misako, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Ms. Maria Cristina RUSSO, Director for International Cooperation of the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission after the opening remarks by Mr. Marc LEMAITRE, Director-General of the Directorate General for Research and Innovation. Also, representatives of the Japanese government and relevant agencies, and those of the European Commission Services participated in the meeting.
  2. During the meeting, both sides introduced the recent science, technology and innovation policies, researcher exchange programs, and actively discussed cooperation in individual areas, such as science diplomacy, renewable energy, soil, digital technologies including quantum technology and HPC, connected automated mobility and fusion research.
