Parliamentary Vice-Minister Mr. KOMURA Masahiro received a courtesy call from Dr. Ingrid Barnsley, Chief of Staff to the OECD Secretary-General

On December 6, commencing at 11:45 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KOMURA Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call from Dr. Ingrid Barnsley, Chief of Staff to the OECD Secretary-General, who is visiting Japan on Japan’s Invitation Program for Ministers/Strategic Exchanges on Practical Level. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
- At the outset, Mr. Komura welcomed Dr. Barnsley's visit to Japan and expressed his wish to work closely with the OECD Secretariat to make the 2024 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM), chaired by Japan, a meaningful event.
- Dr. Barnsley expressed her appreciation for Japan's contribution to the OECD and stated that the OECD will cooperate with Japan, the chair country, to ensure the success of next year's MCM.
- Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in areas including the OECD’s outreach to Southeast Asia, promotion of a free and fair economic order, and digital areas in preparation for the next year's MCM.
