State Minister for Foreign Affairs Horii’s Visit to the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris (The Japan Foundation)
On November 29, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris (The Japan Foundation).
State Minister Horii was guided by Mr. SUZUKI Hitoshi, President of the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris, to see the exhibition; “The Art of Japanese Carpentry -at the heart of tradition wooden architecture-” which introduces Japanese wooden architecture culture, and the exhibition; “MOKUZAI Drawings and paintings by Philippe Weisbecker” which features drawings and paintings of Japanese architectural structures and objects made primarily of wood.
State Minister Horii was briefed by Mr. SUZUKI on the activities of the Institute and exchanged views on more effective management and utilization of the Institute.
The Japan Cultural Institute in Paris opened in 1997 as one of the overseas establishments of the Japan Foundation. It is jointly operated by the public and private sectors with project support funds and human resources from private support organizations, namely, "Amicale au Japon pour la Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris" (Nihon Tomo no Kai) and "Association pour la Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris"(Shien Kyoukai).
