Visit of H.E. Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi,
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Japan

1. From February 24 to 28, H.E. Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit Japan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. During his stay, he will have meetings with senior officials including Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and visit Fukushima and Kyoto.

2. Japan attaches importance to the efforts of the IAEA which plays a significant role in nuclear non-proliferation and promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Japan has been rendering its assistance to the fullest extent to the endeavor of Director General Grossi and will continue to work on strengthening the activities of the IAEA in close cooperation with other IAEA member States.

3. Director General Grossi’s visit to Japan is expected to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and the IAEA.
