Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA by Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University (UNU)

On November 21, for approximately 25 minutes, from 6:40 p.m., Minister KAMIKAWA received a courtesy call from Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University (UNU). The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
- Minister Kamikawa stated that the UNU’s role of developing creative approaches to global issues has taken on greater significance as the international community becomes more divided and problems it faces get more complex, and expressed that Japan attaches great importance to strengthening its relationship with the UNU, which is the only United Nations organization headquartered in Japan.
- Prof. Marwala expressed his appreciation for Japan's support for the UNU and stated that he would like to work on further strengthening cooperation between the UNU and Japan. In response, Minister Kamikawa welcomed UNU's efforts such as reaching out to younger generations.
- They concurred to further deepen coordination between Japan and the UNU, including in addressing global issues such as the promotion of people-centred international cooperation and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in a manner that protects "human dignity."
