On October 17 (local time), Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City was attacked with numerous casualties. We feel strong indignation on tremendous damage to innocent civilians. Attacks against hospitals or civilians cannot be justified on any ground. Japan expresses its heartfelt sympathy to the victims and offers its condolences to the bereaved families and expresses its heartfelt sympathy to the injured.

Japan urges all the parties to act, based on international law, so as to avoid further civilian casualties. Japan will redouble its efforts, in coordination with other countries, to secure the safety of civilians and to calm down the situation as soon as possible.
