On 17 October, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, participated in a working lunch with GCC Ambassadors to Japan hosted by H.E.Dr. Mohamad Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Sultanate of Oman to Japan, at its Embassy in Tokyo. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Tsuji󠄀 stated that strengthening relations with the GCC countries is crucially important for Japan, and that his participation in this working lunch with GCC Ambassadors is also meaningful to follow up on the Japan-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in September. He also expressed his wish to further develop relations with the GCC countries in a wide range of fields through such exchanges.
  2. State Minister Tsuji󠄀 also stated that in view of the rapid deterioration of the Israel-Palestine situation, Japan is communicating with various stakeholders to calm the situation in order to prevent further escalation.
  3. In response, the GCC Ambassadors to Japan expressed their desire for further enhancing Japan-GCC cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges, and stated that they would continue to make efforts to strengthen the Japan-GCC relationship and shared the view to continue close communication for regional stability.
