State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. HORII receives a courtesy call from students participating in the 15th Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students

On Friday, September 29th 2023, commencing from 10:30 for about 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from 9 Chinese students who are participating in the 15th Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students. The outline of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. Mr. Horii welcomed the visit of students and gave words of encouragement to them for the upcoming Japanese high school life. He talked about the importance of youth-to-youth exchange and expressed his expectation that the participating students will lead the future of Japan-China relations.
  2. In response, the representative of the 9 students thanked those involved for the support they received and expressed their determination to actively participate in various exchange activities and their expectations for Japanese high school life.
  3. Afterwards, the other students also shared their hope and received encouragement from Mr. Horii.

The Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students is an exchange program of the Japan Foundation. It was established as a part of the Japan-China 21st Century Friendship Program based on a summit agreement. Launched in 2006, the program has been developing future leaders for Japan-China relations by experiencing daily life in Japan for about a year. The theme 「心連心」of the project means “Heart to Heart” in Chinese.
