State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. HORII receives a courtesy call from students participating in the 15th Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students


On Friday, September 29th 2023, commencing from 10:30 for about 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from 9 Chinese students who are participating in the 15th Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students. The outline of the courtesy call is as follows.
- Mr. Horii welcomed the visit of students and gave words of encouragement to them for the upcoming Japanese high school life. He talked about the importance of youth-to-youth exchange and expressed his expectation that the participating students will lead the future of Japan-China relations.
- In response, the representative of the 9 students thanked those involved for the support they received and expressed their determination to actively participate in various exchange activities and their expectations for Japanese high school life.
- Afterwards, the other students also shared their hope and received encouragement from Mr. Horii.

The Long-Term Exchange Program for Chinese High School Students is an exchange program of the Japan Foundation. It was established as a part of the Japan-China 21st Century Friendship Program based on a summit agreement. Launched in 2006, the program has been developing future leaders for Japan-China relations by experiencing daily life in Japan for about a year. The theme 「心連心」of the project means “Heart to Heart” in Chinese.
