Study Tour in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture for the Diplomatic Corps in Japan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will conduct a study tour for diplomatic corps in Japan, in collaboration with Niigata Prefecture and Sado City on October 12 and 13, 2023.
- This study tour has been conducted annually since 2010 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with local governments or bodies in order to introduce diverse regional attractions such as history, culture, tourism, local products, and industries to diplomatic corps in Japan.
- Under the theme of “Visit Sado Island, an island of golden history and culture”, the diplomatic corps will visit the facilities to experience the cultural value and history of the Sado Island Gold Mines, which is being nominated for the inscription on the World Heritage List. They will also be introduced to diverse attractions of Sado Island, including its cuisine, traditional performing arts, nature and sake brewing, bearing in mind that traditional sake making is being nominated for the inscription on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
- It is expected that this Study Tour will provide a good opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of various attractiveness of Sado City, and also to expand exchanges between Niigata Prefecture, Sado City and the participating countries.
