2021 IAEA Marine Monitoring

As a part of IAEA Marine Monitoring: Confidence Building and Data Quality Assurance, experts from the IAEA Environmental Laboratories will visit Japan from 9th to 12th November 2021 and confirm collection of seawater and sediment samples in the vicinity of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) and fishery products in Fukushima Prefecture.
- This year, for the enhancement of transparency of this project, laboratories from France, Germany and Republic of Korea will also participate in.
- This event is part of a project following recommendations made on marine monitoring in a report by the IAEA in 2013 related to the decommissioning of FDNPS. The implementation of Marine Monitoring by the end of this year was discussed during the visit of Ms. Lydie Evrard, Deputy Director General of the IAEA to Japan in September this year.
