Result of the Election of the Members of the Committee on Enforced Disappearances

- On May 28 (NY time), at the second meeting of the States Parties to the Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, election of the members of the Committee on Enforced Disappearances was held. From Japan, Mr. Kimio Yakushiji, Professor of Ritsumeikan University, was re-elected.
- As a professor of international law, Mr. Yakushiji has greatly contributed to the academic development in the field of international law, for example, as the Vice-President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and President of the Japanese Society of International Law.
- It is significant for Japan, as a country that places importance on the promoting human rights diplomacy, that Mr. Yakushiji contributes to the efforts of the Committee, by harnessing his wide expertise and experiences on the international human rights law.
