Acting U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller Meets with Vice-Minister, Discusses Disarmament and Non-Proliferation

- Visiting Japan from May 6 to May 8, Acting U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller on May 8 exchanged views with Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department Director-General Mitsuru Kitano on bilateral cooperation to strengthen the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) regime and regional matters related to disarmament and non-proliferation.
- On the same day, Acting Under Secretary Gottemoeller called on Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Chikao Kawai and exchanged views on North Korea and the situation in Northeast Asia, Japan-U.S. security cooperation, and nuclear disarmament efforts. She also engaged in wide-ranging discussions with other Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense officials.
