Japan-New Zealand Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues

- On June 14, the Japan-New Zealand Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues was held in VTC format.
- The consultation was participated by relevant directors in Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Japanese side, and the Unit Manager of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Export Controls and other relevant officials in International Security and Disarmament Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from the New Zealand side. The holding of the consultation between Japan and New Zealand was concurred by the Foreign Ministers of both countries at the meeting in Tokyo in February, 2023.
- In this consultation, both countries exchanged views on wide range of current important issues in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation, including nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, various issues surrounding chemical weapons and conventional weapons, regional non-proliferation issues and export controls. Both sides concurred to further deepen the coordination in this field.
