ASEF’s support for displaced people from Ukraine through WHO (Phase 3) Assistance for COVID-19 response
As an assistance under Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Project for Strengthening Preparedness and Response to the COVID-19 and other Emerging Infectious Diseases financially contributed by Japan, the Government of Japan has approved the financial support of 10,000,000 USD for WHO emergency response to address COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
- Medical material including medical devices, diagnostics and medicines will be provided for displaced people and others in Ukraine and neighboring countries, such as Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Moldova through the WHO Regional Office for Europe (EURO).
- This assistance will be provided as Phase 3 of the WHO emergency response to address COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries, following the financial support for Phase 1 (9,500,000 USD) in 2022 and that for Phase 2 (10,000,000 USD) in 2023.

Diagnostics for infectious diseases (e.g. rapid detection test for cholera, PCR kits), medical equipment for medical centers (e.g. GeneXpert ), therapeutics (e.g. TB medicines, diphtheria antitoxin), immuno-biologicals (e.g. vaccines, immunoglobulins), disinfectants and decontaminants.
