Courtesy call on Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA by H.E. Ms.Lina Annab, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Japan

On October 30th, commencing at 6:45 p.m.local time for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from H.E. Ms.Lina Annab, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Kamikawa stated that Japan has unequivocally condemned the recent terror attacks by Hamas and others, and that Japan has consistently called for (1) immediate release of hostages and securing safety of civilians, (2)all the parties to act based on international law and (3) calming down the situation as soon as possible. Ambassador Annab explained the position of Jordan and stated that she shares the great concern about the situation on the ground.
  2. Minister Kamikawa appreciated Jordan’s diplomatic efforts on this matter in order to prevent further escalation of the situation, and stated that Japan decided to provide emergency assistance grant aid of USD 10 million in total through international organizations, considering the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Minister Kamikawa stated that she would like to continue working on this matter in cooperation with Jordan in order to calm down the situation as soon as possible and to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, Minister Kamikawa deeply appreciated Jordan’s cooperation regarding the transportation of Japanese nationals and others from Israel, and Ambassador Annab stated the Jordan will spare no effort in securing the safety of Japanese nationals.
  3. They concurred on continuing to cooperate to ensure the safety of civilians, to improve the humanitarian situation, including humanitarian purposes that would contribute to it, and to calm down the situation as soon as possible.
