Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Kamikawa by a delegation of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Japan Business Council Representatives

On October 3, commencing at 3:00 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from a delegation of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Japan Business Council representatives led by Ms. Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
- Minister Kamikawa noted that President Clark is the first female President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and stated that women are playing an increasingly important role in both politics and business. Minister Kamikawa further noted that Japan has been the world’s largest investor in the U.S. for four consecutive years, and stated that the member companies of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and U.S.-Japan Business Council serve as a foundation for the robust Japan-U.S. relations.
- In response, President Clark expressed her appreciation for the contributions made by Japanese companies in the U.S. and her desire to continue to make efforts, including at the local level, to strengthen the U.S.-Japan economic relationship.
- Furthermore, President Clark welcomed the appointment of a female minister, and both sides shared awareness of the need for female leaders to send a positive message to women entrepreneurs and business professionals.
