The 64th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency to be held in Vienna
1. The 64th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be held from September 21 to 25 in Vienna.
2. Mr. HIKIHARA Takeshi, Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna, will attend the General Conference as representatives of the Government of Japan.
3. At the beginning of the General Conference, Mr. INOUE Shinji, Minister of State of Cabinet Office will make a statement on measures on decommissioning and contaminated water management of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and peaceful uses of nuclear energy as well as Japan’s efforts on nuclear non-proliferation(pre-recorded video). During the session, the representatives of the Member States will discuss nuclear non-proliferation issues including safeguards activities, and also nuclear security, technical cooperation, nuclear safety and other issues.
