The Peace Agreement between the Sudanese Transitional Government and Sudan’s rebel alliance

1. On August 31, the Sudanese Transitional Government made the Peace Agreement in Juba, capital of South Sudan with Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), Sudan’s main rebel alliance. Japan appreciates efforts toward peace by the Transitional Government and congratulates all Sudanese on the great progress toward the future transition to civilian rule.
2. Japan continues to pay close attention to the situation in Sudan, including the implementation of the agreement, and hopes that all parties concerned will comply with the agreement concluded in August last year in good faith and address challenges during the transitional period in a cooperative manner.
