Japan-Saudi Arabia Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On September 1, commencing at around 5:18 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone talk with H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The overview is as follows.

1. At the outset, Minister Motegi mentioned that he was happy to hear that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s surgery was a success and he was safely discharged from hospital, and that he would also pray for King Salman’s health.

2. The two ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations, and Minister Motegi expressed his desire to advance the framework of “Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 (PDF)Open a New Window” and continue cooperation for the success of the G20 Riyadh Summit. The two ministers once again confirmed the policy of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

3. The two ministers held a broad exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East and common interests in the international community, and shared the view to continue to coordinate with each other.
