Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu
by young politics-oriented Cambodians
On July 23, Mr. Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call commencing from 5:45 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes by ten young politics-oriented Cambodians (the eldest participant as the representative; Mr. CHIN Malin, Under Secretary of State, Ministry of Justice), who were visiting Japan upon the invitation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
1. Minister Motegi welcomed the young politics-oriented Cambodians visit to Japan, and expressed his sincere hope that the young generation of Cambodia would create the future and democracy of Cambodia.
2. Furthermore, Minister Motegi explained that the development of a multi-party system as well as the freedom of the press are indespensable for democracy. He expressed his hope for all Cambodian people to unite to promote the democratic process, aiming for the nation’s robust development in the future.
3. In response, Mr. CHIN Malin and other participants expressed their appreciation to the program as well as Japan’s assistance to Cambodia over the years. Participants also showed their desire to learn from Japan’s experience and expressed their hope that Japan will continue to provide support in the field of democracy for Cambodia.
